Thus, to the north, at Conímbriga, you will find the most famous Roman ruins in Portugal. To the east, close to the Roman road that connected Olisipo (Lisbon) to Bracara Augusta (Braga), Villa Romana do Rabaçal. And to the south is Villa Romana de Santiago da Guarda. All of them offer nucleus and support to the visitors.
Atlantic Coast, Beaches and Rivers
With the sea only 45 km away, it is possible to spend an excellent day at the beach, to break the country routine of a longer stay. The beaches of Figueira da Foz, Pedrogão, Vieira or S. Pedro de Moel are worth visiting.
The freshness, the green landscape and the peacefulness of Represas Naturais da Louçainha make it one of the most pleasant places in the region. Besides natural swimming pools, you ill find a picnic park and a panoramic restaurant.
Regional Arts & Crafts
The region offers a variety of interesting arts and crafts, whose highlight goes to the wicker basketry and the patchwork-quilts. The weekly markets in Santiago da Guarda, Ansião and Soure are excellent places to find them out.
